Our Story...
Welcome to Totally Toys!
The idea for Totally Toys was formed in early 2024 by Ruth, David, and Louey Simon during a dinnertime conversation at the kitchen table. As has been the case with many people, the Simons reminisced about experiences as kids going to “mom and pop” toy stores.
After four generations of family in the metal recycling industry, it was now time to embark on a new path. Thus the plan to create an updated version of the "classic" toy store was put into motion.
Big box stores and online shopping are the typical toy shopping experiences these days, but what is often sorely missed is the feeling of wonder we remember with fondness when entering a toy store, a place where no matter what your age, for a few moments you can hit pause and just enjoy yourself.
So come on in. Check out the amazing, hand-picked selection of toys, games, puzzles, and more. Let your imagination run wild, have a little fun, and unplug.
Oh and by the way….. we’ve got plenty of parking !
Our Staff
Our well rounded staff not only knows customer service and toys, these people know how to have fun as well.
- Pat Palmer is our Store Manager & resident "mellow dude.” He has roots in Bel Air, Maryland and about a decade ago left the area to seek even more “Belle” air, departing for Maui, Hawaii, where he enjoyed a serene decade in the recreation and hospitality industry. Pat's years of customer service experience, unique approach to problem solving, and overall laid-back, happy attitude make him a perfect leader for our team.
- Judy Lloyd, our Co-Manager, Marketing/Social Media Manager, and "Judy-of-All-Trades, " is a lifelong resident of the Baltimore area. We don’t need a DJ, a car and motorcycle mechanic, a home builder, movie and music trivia expert, optician, dancer, etc., etc. (you get the picture), but if we did, she covers all of the bases. Judy’s artistic eye and love of toys, puzzles, and games embody the spirit of Totally Toys.
- Kamya Smith is a Sales Associate and Resident Artist. She is a recent graduate of a truly amazing Baltimore City public school, the Baltimore School for the Arts. Kamya’s infectious smile and bubbly personality are a delight. She is always ready to assist and her imagination knows no bounds. We have designated her as “Totally Toys Master of Clixo,” the award winning STEM magnetic play system. We are proud to have Kamya with us.
- Sydney Wood is a Sales Associate and Resident Artist. Sydney is currently a senior in high school who will be pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. (We’d like to say that our vast collection of stuffed animals, such as dogs, cats, penguins, moose, turtles, and dinosaurs inspired her to choose this path but unfortunately we can’t take credit.) Sydney is a firecracker whose upbeat personality and "joie de vivre" round out our team perfectly.
Our Toys
Our toys are researched and selected by Louey Simon, who spends hours picking out brands that are sustainable, inclusive, and community minded. We have a large selection of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) toys and crafts.
